Mr. Cottier is the co-author of the chapter "The Operating Agreement" in Limited Liability Companies and S Corporations published by Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (2000), and he has served as a panelist discussing mezzanine financing for a continuing legal education program.

Mr. Cottier served as law clerk to the Honorable Ilana D. Rovner, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, from 1985 to 1987.
