Founded in 1982 Martin & Jones has consistently maintained the highest rating assigned to attorneys and law firms. This rating is given based on several criteria: legal ability, ethical standards, professional liability and diligence.

The firm's first cases involved representing textile workers diagnosed with the occupational disease, byssinosis, or "brown lung." By the mid-1980's, the firm began to handle cases involving asbestos, product liability, medical malpractice, and wrongful death, despite the difficult and complex nature of such litigation. In 1983 it began its successful work with victims of the Dalkon Shield IUD, which continued for more than fifteen years. Beginning in the early 1990's, Martin & Jones began handling insurance fraud cases as well as litigation arising from the L-tryptophan dietary supplement, tainted blood products, and breast implants.

This work continues with the recent discoveries regarding the medication Vioxx.
