Lawyer Overview

J. David Standeffer handles Trials and cases before all State and Federal, Civil and Criminal Courts.  In September 1998, he became a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, as a result of meeting the rigorous qualification requirements and passing the written national examination. He is one of the thirty-one attorneys so certified in the state of South Carolina.  Since 2005, he has been a certified Civil Mediator by the South Carolina Board of Arbitrator and Mediator Certification. Mr. Standeffer graduated, with Honor, from Clemson University in 1972, after attending grades 1-12 in Anderson, and from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1975.  He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1975, served as a Captain in U.S. Army J.A.G. Corps for three years, practiced with a law firm in Europe for one year and for the Anderson and Epps Law Firm for one year in Anderson, before going to the Tenth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office (Anderson and Oconee) for over seven years. He served as Anderson County Attorney for two years. He opened his private practice of law in 1988, in Anderson.

He is a member of the South Carolina, Anderson County and American Bar Association; The American Association for Justice; The American Trial Lawyers Association;; The South Carolina Association for Justice; The National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys; The Federal Bar Association; and is on the Board of Directors for  The Southern Trial Lawyers Association.  He has tried over 500 jury trials to verdict, plus hundreds of non-jury trial verdicts. He is married and has one child.
