Lawyer Overview
Edward J. Green is a partner in Foley & Lardner's Chicago office. He is a member of the Firm's Bankruptcy & Business Reorganizations, Finance & Financial Institutions, and Healthcare Finance & Restructuring Practices. He also serves as the national partner in charge of business development for the Firm's Regulated Industries Department. Mr. Green focuses his practice on creditors' rights, bankruptcy and distressed transactions. He has represented financial institutions, equity holders, bond holders, creditors' committees, trustees, secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, professionals and purchasers in reorganization cases, liquidations, workouts, transactions and a variety of federal and state court litigation across the country. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the United States Courts of Appeal for the Sixth, Seventh and Eleventh Circuits and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, where he is a member of the Trial Bar. He has also structured, negotiated and closed transactions outside of bankruptcy involving billions of dollars in consideration. His recent representations include:
Prior to joining Foley & Lardner, Mr. Green served as a law clerk to the Honorable Michael J. Melloy, Chief United States District Court Judge for the Northern District of Iowa (now of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit) and was an associate at McDermott, Will & Emery in Chicago.
Mr. Green earned his bachelor's degree in business administration (finance) from the University of Iowa College of Business in 1988. He received his Juris Doctor degree, with high distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1992, where he was an associate editor of the Iowa Law Review. He also holds a M.B.A. from the University of Iowa School of Management, which he received in 1992.
