Lawyer Overview

Mr. Protter is the Managing Partner of the firm and as the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for administrative management, entrepreneurial leadership, strategic planning, client and community relations and the mentoring and professional development of partners, associates and staff. Howard is a member of the Municipal Law Team and leads the firm's International and Intellectual Property practice areas on the Business Team.

Mr. Protter was Village Attorney for Cornwall-on-Hudson 1982 - 2008 and the Tuxedo Town Counsel since 1996. His primary practice has been devoted to municipal law and litigation, representing local governments and municipal officials in Orange, Ulster, Sullivan and Putnam counties since 1983 in various types of municipal litigation, labor relations, disciplinary proceedings, land use and environmental matters. Mr. Protter's business, international and intellectual law practice has involved a wide variety of commercial transactions, including importation and licensing in the US, Netherlands, Italy, England, and France.
