Gerald Treece received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Houston in 1966, and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center in 1969. His areas of expertise are civil rights, constitutional law, torts, and trial and appellate advocacy.

Mr. Treece has been a Professor of Law and Associate Dean at South Texas College of Law for 24 years. His academic roles at South Texas College of Law include positions as Vice President, Special Counsel to the President, Director of Advocacy, and the W. James Kronzer, Jr. Distinguished Professor of Advocacy.

Professor Treece has been a consultant for numerous law firms in Texas on tort law and constitutional law. He has also written and argued in excess of one hundred appellate cases in tort and constitutional law.

For the last eleven years, he has been the host of "Professor Treece's Weekly Legal Journal" on KHOU-TV Channel 11. He continues to serve as the on-air legal expert for CBS and CNN.

Professor Treece is a decorated Vietnam War vetaran.

The T. Gerald Treece Courtroom was dedicated at South Texas College of Law by the Supreme Court of Texas on November 12, 2003. The courtroom is the top high-tech courtroom in the South. It was named for Professor Treece in honor of his outstanding record in coaching South Texas Advocacy Teams through 100 championships.

Professor Treece was admitted to practice before the State Bar of Texas in 1972. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh and Federal Circuits and the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas.
