Law Firm Overview

Avery and Upton, Attorneys at Law began as the Law Offices of Bruce E. Avery in 1993. After more than fifteen years of military service as a member of the Judge Advocate General Corps, Bruce Avery established his family law practice in Rockville, MD. Bruce spent the next decade focused entirely on representing and advising individuals and families in a range of family law matters including:

In 2003, Bruce welcomed his new partner, Prudence Upton to the firm. Prudence brings her own experience in the field of family law.  Suzanne Ryan joined the firm in 2009 as a law clerk and became an associate in 2010.

As a small firm, we are able to offer each client and each case our full attention and the benefit of our over 30 years of collective experience. We have flexible office hours and take the time to listen and talk to our clients so that we fully understand the issues, goals and needs involved with each case. We appreciate the stress and emotions involved in the fields of law that we practice. We strive to provide a listening ear and compassionate service that is focused on the client and their family.
