Lawyer Overview

Jeffrey M. Sankey is a cum laude graduate of Boston University School of Law, and holds a Master of Laws degree in criminal law. He has been a member of the Massachusetts bar since 1988. He also holds memberships before the bars of the Supreme Court of the United States; the United States Court of Military Appeals; the United States District Courts for Massachusetts and Rhode Island; and the state courts of Rhode Island. In addition, Attorney Sankey served as a member of the Town of Mansfield School Committee for nine years.

Attorney Sankey served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1979 to 1993, followed by service in the Marine Corps Reserves until his retirement in 2005 at the rank of Colonel. Throughout his legal career in the Marine Corps, Attorney Sankey represented hundreds of Marines and sailors charged with criminal offenses in courts-martial across the United States. During his final five years of service, Attorney Sankey was assigned as a Military Trial Judge and Senior Reserve Trial Judge for the Marine Corps. Upon his retirement, Attorney Sankey was presented with the Meritorious Service Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

Attorney Sankey offers a wide range of litigation experience to clients of the firm. His practice includes an interest in employment law, in which he has represented both employers and employees in state and federal courts and before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination involving claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, non-compete agreements and other workplace issues. He has substantial experience as a criminal defense counsel, and has represented clients in Juvenile, District and Superior Courts throughout the Commonwealth. Attorney Sankey devotes a significant part of his practice to education law, representing students who require assistance to obtain special education services or who are facing disciplinary hearings. In the area of civil litigation and personal injury litigation, Attorney Sankey has from time to time represented individuals, insurance companies and municipalities, and is well prepared to assist in the evaluation and trial of such claims.
