Summary

Lawyer Overview

As a 10 year old growing up, Frank witnessed firsthand the damage a catastrophic injury can cause to a family when his aunt Cholly, at the age of 31, was severely injured in a head-on car accident.  She was in a coma for almost ten years, and ultimately passed away without ever waking up.  After experiencing the heart wrenching consequences such a situation causes spouses, children, parents and siblings, he developed a passion for helping people plan to minimize the damage should the worst happen.

Frank graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science in 1992, and the University of Colorado School of Law in December 1995.  He was admitted to the Colorado Bar in May of 1996.  Frank is a member of the Denver and Colorado Bar Associations, as well as the CBA Trust and Estate, and Elder Law Sections.  He has been a member of the Denver Estate Planning Council since 2000.  He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and worked closely with, and served as a volunteer guardian for, the Guardianship Alliance of Colorado.

Frank focuses his practice in the areas of Estate Planning, Asset Protection Planning, Charitable Planning, Legacy Planning, Medicaid and Public Benefits Planning, Business Planning (including entity formation and succession planning), Estate and Gift Tax Planning, Real Estate transactions (including construction law), Consumer Advocacy and Estate and Trust Administration and Litigation.  He has prepared over 3400 estate plans as an attorney, as well as handling over 750 estate and trust administrations.  He has given over 650 seminars on estate planning to various groups including those associated with Senior Planning Services, Kaiser Permanente, US West/Qwest, Capital Management Group, the Colorado association of Public Employees, the Communications Workers of America, Local Plumbers and Pipefitters Unions, Senior Tax Advisory, Colorado State Employee Credit Union, AG Edwards, Edward Jones, Wells Fargo Bank, The National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Coors Credit Union and numerous churches and labor unions throughout the state.

He is a regular attorney on LawLine 9, as well as Tom Martino's Troubleshooter radio and tv shows.  He teaches classes on Estate Planning and Estate/Trust Administration for the Colorado Bar Association, National Business Institute, Front Range Community College and Colorado Mountain College.  He has co-authored a book titled, "How to Protect Your Family's Assets From Devastating Nursing Home Costs--Medicaid Secrets".  He also co-authored the "Planning for Special Needs Children" Chapter in the Colorado Handbook of Elder Law.  He has been named a prestigious Five Star Wealth Advisor for 2010 by 5280 magazine and ColoradoBiz magazine.  Frank is a Colorado native who graduated from Regis Jesuit High School.  He has a six year old son.
