Lawyer Overview

Oliver Passavant practices in the area of U.S., German, and international corporate, securities, commercial, and bankruptcy law. He has served as counsel to U.S. and European companies in numerous transactions, including share and asset acquisitions, mergers, corporate restructurings, joint ventures, technology licenses, and corporate compliance. He has developed in-depth experience in the areas of computer hardware and software, electronic commerce, and related technologies and in the automotive industry.

Oliver has participated in major U.S., German, and international transactions for clients such as Banner Industries, BFGoodrich, Bombardier, Braas & Co. GmbH, Didier-Werke AG, Diebold, E.ON AG, Firestone, Hunting plc, IWKA Aktiengesellschaft, J.M. Huber Corp., J.M. Smucker Co., Linde AG, Lucent Technologies, Mannesmann AG, Policy Management Systems Corp., Preussag AG, Rhône-Poulenc S.A., SASIB S.A., STERIS Corporation, and The Washington Group. He was counsel to Morrison Knudsen Corp. in its participation in Mitteldeutsche Braunkohlenwerke AG (MIBRAG), one of the largest privatization projects subsequent to German reunification. Recently, he has been involved in several German and cross-border restructuring projects.

He is a member of the American Bar Association (International Law and Practice Section and Business Law Section), the New York State Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the German-American Chamber of Commerce, the French-American Chamber of Commerce, and the German-American Law Association. Oliver practiced in the Firm's Cleveland Office from 1987 to 1989 and in the Atlanta Office from 1990 to 1993 before transferring to the Frankfurt Office in 1994.
