Lawyer Overview

Justus Schmidt-Ott's practice concentrates on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, securities (including IPOs), and litigation. He has extensive experience in the fields of national and international transactions and corporate restructurings. He has advised, inter alia, clients on privatizations in the utility and the health care sector, international venture capital funds holding interests in German entities, and joint ventures of federal and regional authorities. His litigation and arbitration practice is focused on complex transactional and banking matters.

In 1993, after passing the Second State Exam in Law, Justus joined the Berlin office of a Frankfurt-based law firm. He first practiced in the real estate department, and from 1994, in the corporate department. In 1999, he became partner of the firm.

After passing his First State Exam in Law, Justus worked as a research fellow at the Department of History of Law and Historical Comparison of Law at the Freiburg University, where he prepared his doctorate in classical Roman law.

Justus has published in the fields of corporate, transformation, tax law, and the law of conflicts of laws.
