    Lawyer Profile:

Jamie is a Partner in the Trademark, Copyright and Brand Management practice group for the Minneapolis office of Dorsey. She has over a decade of experience in trademark prosecution and internet-related legal work.

As a member of the firm's top-ranked trademark team, Jamie's practice emphasizes trademark, copyright, and unfair competition law and e-commerce law, including acquisition and enforcement of U.S. and international rights in trademarks, domain names, keywords and copyrights. She also negotiates and drafts licensing, co-branding, and e-commerce agreements, website terms of use, and other online policies.

"I focus on understanding my clients' businesses so that I can give the best, proactive advice possible," Jamie says. "Once I understand their businesses, I can help my clients direct their intellectual property budgets toward the most important assets in their portfolios."

A wide range of companies-public and private, large and small-rely on Jamie as their attorney for branding strategy and copyright-related issues. She works with clients to select strong new names and brands, then helps leverage them through registration and, when necessary, enforcement against others. She handles matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). She negotiates and drafts licenses for trademarks and copyrighted works. She assists with intellectual property-related due diligence in corporate transactions. She helps companies deal with infringement of their marks on the internet through domain names, keywords and metatags. And she has deep experience in registering both generic and country code domain names for clients and in counseling clients on managing their domain name portfolios to deter cybersquatters.

Jamie earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), which has the highest ranked intellectual property program among U.S. law schools, according to U.S. News and World Report. She received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University.
