Law Firm Overview

Butler, Durham & Toweson P.L.L.C. was founded by David G. Butler when he opened his solo practice in May, 1980. Sidney D. Durham joined the firm nine years later. At that time the firm's philosophy of specialization within the law commenced. Mr. Butler was able to concentrate on criminal defense, and Sid Durham maintained and further developed his family practice.

The firm has grown to seven attorneys, all of whom are licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan. In addition, Anthony Toweson is licensed to practice in the state of Indiana.

The firm's office is located in Parchment, Michigan, a suburb of Kalamazoo, Michigan. The office is approximately three miles north of the Kalamazoo County Courts, and is situated very close to the new Kalamazoo County Family Court Building.

The community support for the firm has fostered its growth from one lawyer to seven. The firm offers specialized expertise in various areas of law. Dave Butler and Tony Toweson in Criminal Law, Sid Durham and Leslie Payseno in Matrimonial Law, Van Hatch in General Civil Law and Personal Injury Law, and Bill Maybee in Estate Planning, Corporate Law and General Civil Law. Richard Stroba joined the firm in 2001, and brings a wealth of experience in both criminal and matrimonial law.  In total, the firm has more than 130 years experience in solving problems for its clients.

It is our belief as a firm that our clients best interests are served by the client being represented by the totality of the firm, and not just the client's individual attorney within the firm. Clients frequently consult with our respective partners and associates not only on the principal matter but also on tangential matters to their pending case.
