Law Firm Overview

I.C. "Jack" Waddey and Mark J. Patterson founded the Firm in March, 1992. It is the first and only law firm in the region created to practice exclusively in Intellectual Property Law. In 2005, Waddey & Patterson relocated its offices (photo, right) to the Roundabout Plaza on Music Row in Nashville in order to provide clients with easier access to its professional staff and support resources. In addition, the Firm has invested extensively in law office information technologies in order to provide a high level of service in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Since its founding, Waddey & Patterson has grown steadily, today engaging 14 attorneys and a seasoned legal support team who provide a variety of intellectual property legal services to its clients worldwide including, but not limited to, the pursuit of patent and trademark protection, as well as the enforcement of their intellectual property rights through the litigation of patent, copyright and trademark infringements and trade secret matters.

The trademark and patent attorneys of Waddey & Patterson also provide counsel on matters relating to the commercialization and licensing or acquisition of intellectual property, including intellectual property audits; due diligence, patentability opinion, trademark counsel and other intellectual property strategies; and mediation services, where alternative dispute resolution methods may be advantageous to its clients.
