Judge Boudin was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in May 1992 and served as Chief Judge from 2001 to 2008. He will assume senior status on June 1, 2013. Judge Boudin received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University in 1961 and his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1964. He served as law clerk to Judge Henry J. Friendly of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1964 to 1965, and as law clerk to Justice John Harlan of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1965 to 1966. He then worked in private practice from 1966 to 1987. From 1982 to 1983, he was a Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School and from 1983 to 1998 he was a Lecturer at Harvard Law School. He was the Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Antitrust Division at the U.S. Department of Justice from 1987 to 1990. Judge Boudin was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in 1990, where he served as District Judge until he was elevated to the First Circuit Court of Appeals in 1992.
