Lawyer Overview

Irma Rodríguez Moisa has extensive experience working with companies and public agencies to help HR managers avoid the myriad of legal issues which they face each day. She is also a skilled labor negotiator.

When a conflict does arise, Ms. Moisa has the litigation experience necessary to effectively handle the matter. With numerous trial cases to her credit, she has litigated matters in state and federal courts in the areas of discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, FMLA/CFRA, disability discrimination, wrongful termination, and the First Amendment.

Ms. Moisa first practiced law as an attorney with the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) where she worked on cases regarding school desegregation, bilingual education and voting rights.

Ms. Moisa was admitted to practice law in California in 1992 and is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and Mexican-American Bar Association. Ms. Moisa has focused on representing employers since 1996. Since 2004, Ms. Moisa has been recognized as one of the Top 2.5 percent of Southern California Super Lawyers by Southern California Super Lawyers magazine.

Ms. Rodríguez Moisa received her B.S. degree in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, and her Juris Doctor from Boalt Hall, School of Law, University of California, Berkeley.  Ms. Rodríguez Moisa also earned a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

She has conducted close to 1,000 training seminars and provided advice and counsel to various entities and professional associations on topics such as: preventing discrimination, retaliation, and harassment; embracing diversity; conducting disciplinary investigations; responding to EEOC and DFEH complaints; understanding employee privacy rights; properly maintaining personnel files; managing employee leaves; and imposing employee discipline.

Ms. Moisa co-authored “The Uncertain Contours of the Vested Benefits Doctrine” in the California Public Employee Relations periodical of the Institute of Industrial Relations, U.C. Berkeley.

Public Service
Ms. Rodríguez Moisa sits on the Boards  the Rio Hondo College Foundation, the Whittier Rio Hondo AIDS Project and is an Advisory Board Member to the Los Angeles County Alcohol and Drug Agency and is a Member of the Soroptomist International of Whittier.
