Lawyer Overview
Kenneth E. Krosin is a partner in Foley's Washington, D.C. office. As a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group, Mr. Krosin is recognized in national and international patent circles for his jury trial and appellate experience.
In addition to representing clients in intellectual property litigation, Mr. Krosin has been a neutral advisor, mediator, and special master in patent infringement disputes. He has also been selected to testify as a patent law expert in a number of infringement suits.
Mr. Krosin served a one-year clerkship with the U.S. Court of Claims in 1971-1972, after which he practiced with two well-established intellectual property firms before joining Foley.
Mr. Krosin has lectured frequently on patent litigation topics, including presentations at PLI's Seminar on Patent Litigation, the Judicial Conference of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Court, and Patent Resources Group's "Trial of a Patent Infringement Case." He also sat on the advisory board of the BNA Patent, Trademark & Copyright Journal.
Mr. Krosin is active in the American Intellectual Property Law Association and a member of the AIPLA Fellows, a "special category for active members of the Association," election to which requires "(1) outstanding service to the Association, (2) prominence within the intellectual property profession, and (3) learned contributions to the profession through teaching and writing." He has served as treasurer, a member of the board of directors, and chairman of the Patent Law Committee, the Federal Litigation Committee, the Management of Intellectual Property Assets Committee and the IP in the Far East Committee. He co-chaired AIPLA's 1989 and 1994 Mid-Winter Institutes on the "Art of Litigation Advocacy" in intellectual property disputes, the 1999 Mid-Winter Institute on intellectual property relating to the Internet and the 2002 Mid-Winter Institute on the Business Aspects of Intellectual Property. Mr. Krosin also was the editor of AIPLA's best-selling publication Federal Circuit Patent Law Decisions.
Mr. Krosin is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association (former chairman of the Trade Regulation Committee of the Computer Law Section), American Bar Association (former vice-chairman, Annual Publications of the Patent, Trademark and Copyright Law Section), Virginia Bar Association, D.C. Computer Law Forum (former member of the board of directors), and ITC Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Krosin is a graduate of Princeton University (B.S. cum laude, electrical engineering), the University of Michigan (M.S., electrical engineering), and The George Washington University Law School (J.D.), where he was a member of the George Washington Law Review.
Mr. Krosin is admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia, and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Fourth Circuit and the District of Columbia.
