Henry B. Cooney has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Plunkett Cooney since 1998. He currently serves as the Business Law Department Leader. Mr. Cooney devotes the majority of his time to managing the firm's 325 employees, which includes 160 attorneys in 11 offices. His responsibilities include ensuring the delivery of world-class service to clients, recruitment and retention of high quality lawyers and staff, community outreach and continued growth of the firm.

Prior to undertaking his current duties, Mr. Cooney practiced for 26 years in the areas of product liability, construction liability, commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution. He continues to serve as an arbitrator and facilitator in a limited number of cases.

Mr. Cooney serves in leadership positions for a number of professional and community organizations. He is a former president of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association and currently serves on the boards of directors for several organizations, including the Detroit Regional Chamber, Life Directions, Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion, and American Heart Association (Southeast Michigan).

He is also active in the following community organizations:
Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce (member, Board of Directors); Michigan Roundtable for Diversity & Inclusion (member, Board of Directors); Life Directions (Board of Directors); Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings; and American Heart Association (Board of Directors - Southeast Michigan)
