Greg Etzel's primary area of practice involves the representation of hospitals and other providers relating to healthcare regulatory matters and payment disputes. His representation includes litigation before administrative law judges and appeals panels such as the Medicare Provider Reimbursement Review Board, the Medicare Departmental Appeals Board, the Texas State Office of Administrative Hearings, and in federal court. Mr. Etzel frequently litigates complex Medicare reimbursement disputes involving individual hospitals and large group appeals. His practice also includes the representation of hospitals and other providers in recovering payment for claims denied by Recovery Audit Contractors, Program Safeguard Contractors, and other payment entities.

Mr. Etzel also spends a considerable amount of his practice assisting providers in compliance-related matters, including the risk assessment, investigation, and voluntary disclosure and repayment of identified healthcare overpayments. This area of his practices has included his involvement in the representation of hospitals and other providers in federal False Claims Act matters, including both national initiatives led by the U.S. Department of Justice and individual qui tam actions. In addition to his regulatory/payment litigation-related practice, Mr. Etzel has advised hospitals and other health care entities on a number of Medicare and Medicaid regulatory issues and in structuring transactions to comply with regulatory requirements.

Mr. Etzel was recently listed as one of fourteen "Outstanding Healthcare Litigator" by Nightingale's Healthcare News, and was previously named an "Outstanding Young Healthcare Lawyer" by the same publication. The publication highlighted his noted for his work as lead attorney in many federal court decisions favorably reversing an overly restrictive Medicare payment policy. In addition to this honor, Mr. Etzel has been named to the "Best Lawyers in America," 2008-2009, listed as a "Texas Rising Star" in healthcare law by Law & Politics and the publishers of Texas Monthly in 2005-2008, and in 2004 was one of the "Lawyers on the Fast Track" in H Texas magazine.
