Michael K. Cavanaugh is of counsel with Foley & Lardner, where he is a member of the firm's Commercial Transactions & Business Counseling Practice.

Prior to joining Foley in 1997, Mr. Cavanaugh was a partner with Keck, Mahin & Cate and a trial attorney with the Tax Division of the Department of Justice. Mr. Cavanaugh's practice has broadened from an original emphasis on tax work to general corporate and commercial counsel for business law clients.

Mr. Cavanaugh received his law degree in 1960 from Georgetown University Law School, where he was a member of the Georgetown Law Review. He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Creighton University and an LL.M. in taxation from New York University. Mr. Cavanaugh is admitted to practice in Iowa and Illinois.
