Biography

Stefan J. Scholl grew up in Petoskey, Michigan, attending St. Francis Xavier Grade School and graduating from Petoskey High School. He went on to obtain his bachelor's degree in International Relations from The Honors College and James Madison College at Michigan State University. Scholl received his law degree from the University of Michigan, one of the nation's preeminent law schools.

At the University of Michigan Law School, Scholl was a participant in the Henry M. Campbell Moot Court Competition, 1991-1992, and was awarded the prestigious S. Anthony Benton award for Semi-Finals Best Brief by a panel of distinguished judges including United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

From 1992-1994, Scholl practiced law with Beier Howlett, P.C., a Bloomfield Hills, Michigan law firm, where he served as an Assistant City Attorney for the cities of Birmingham and Rochester Hills, Michigan, and gained experience in general civil litigation, real estate law, business and corporate law, municipal and school law, wills, trusts and estates, banking law, collection law, construction law and personal injury law.

In 1994, Scholl returned to his hometown of Petoskey and established his own law practice in his father's former law offices. Scholl's father, Richard H. Scholl, a highly respected attorney and an honors graduate of the Detroit College of Law, passed away in a plane crash in 1981. Scholl was married to his wife Kim in 1998 and has two adorable children, Max (1999) and Mamie (2002). Scholl also has a yellow Labrador retriever, Zeke, who is the office mascot.
