Founded in 1992, by Lawrence Brown, a former United States Department of Justice Tax Division Trial Attorney, The Brown Firm is a boutique law firm with a nationwide tax controversy and tax litigation practice. We regularly represent clients, throughout the United States, in IRS Audits and Appeals, IRS Problem Resolution, Tax Litigation, and Criminal Tax Investigations/Prosecutions. We take great pride in the fact that most of our clients are referred by attorneys, CPAs, and tax professionals, and that we have been retained to represent a number of attorneys and CPAs in their own civil and criminal tax cases.

The Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory lists the Firm's founder, Lawrence Brown, as a preeminent attorney (a distinction awarded to only 5% of practicing attorneys nationwide) and rates Mr. Brown AV (the highest possible rating for legal proficiency and professional ethics).

Mr. Brown's time with the Department of Justice Tax Division, and his vast experience representing businesses and individuals in complex federal tax disputes and controversies, has given him a unique understanding of IRS and Department of Justice Tax Division policies, procedures and strategies. He brings this insight and understanding to the table each time he represents a tax client.

We believe that a team approach creates the highest likelihood of efficiently and economically achieving the most favorable resolutions possible to client tax problems. Immediately after agreeing to represent a client, we assemble a team to handle the particular case. The persons comprising the team will vary, depending upon the complexity of the matter at hand. In less complex cases, the team will consist of Mr. Brown, a firm paralegal and the client. In more complex cases, the team can expand to include former IRS agents, experienced CPAs, forensic accountants, financial investigators, professional auditors and industry experts with whom Mr. Brown closely associates.
