He is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, with a J.D. degree in 1977 and an undergraduate degree from The Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. degree in 1974. He has practiced law for more than 25 years.

As a litigator, Rob has represented business and government in both state and federal court and is regularly involved in business and real estate litigation. As a probate lawyer, Rob regularly handles probate and guardianship matters in Denton, Collin, Dallas and Tarrant counties. Rob has served as local counsel for a religious charitable foundation in major litigation concerning charitable trusts. As an appellate lawyer, Rob has represented his clients in appeals and mandamus actions in the Texas Courts of Appeals at Dallas, Ft. Worth, Tyler, Waco and Eastland, in the Texas Supreme Court,  the U. S. Court of Appeals for Federal Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit at New Orleans. As a trained mediator, Rob brings his 25 years of litigation experience to help parties to a lawsuit to resolve their differences by settlement. Rob has experience in matters involving:

    Rob began his practice in Austin, where he was in private practice for 4 years before being appointed County Attorney for Martin County, Texas. While in Martin County, Rob combined his duties as County Attorney with a private practice. In 1983, Rob was elected by his fellow prosecutors as a member of the board of directors of the Texas District and County Attorneys Association, a position he held from 1984-1986.

    In 1985, Rob accepted an appointment as First Assistant District Attorney for the 118th Judicial District. As First Assistant DA, Rob prosecuted governmental corruption, obtaining a conviction against a county employee on over 20 counts of misapplication of fiduciary property. Rob also handled appeals for the DA's office, with no conviction ever being reversed.

    In 1987, Rob joined the Criminal District Attorney's Office in Denton, where his job was to represent Denton County in civil matters. Rob represented the County in employment and contract matters, and defended the County from prisoner law suits in both state and federal court.

    In 1992, Rob left the DA's office and entered private practice where he has been active in civil litigation in both state and federal court.
