Partnership Structured Tiered partnership arrangement for U.S. investors in $100 million development project involving complex capital and profit and loss allocation issues.

Equipment Leasing Represented leasing arm of major financial institution in numerous leveraged leasing transactions involving hundreds of millions of dollars in equipment cost.  Reviewed tax issues related to proposed lease structures, negotiated tax indemnity agreements and purchase and sale of existing leases.

Partnership Represented foreign investors in U.S. real estate development partnership in connection with partnership restructuring and raising of additional equity for 1,500 acre high-end residential and golf course development project.

Foreclosures and Workouts Advised numerous borrowers and lenders regarding tax aspects of loan restructurings, workouts and foreclosures.

Real Property Valuation Represented hotel owner in real property tax dispute, resulting in tax reduction of over $1 million.  Represented property owners and lessees in appealing real property tax assessments of residential, shopping center, and golf course properties, including multiple-year appeals of properties assessed at more than $500 million.

Hawaii General Excise Tax Negotiated with Hawaii Department Taxation to reduce proposed general excise tax assessment for work performed by multinational engineering firm in connection with Hawaii project.  Result was tax savings to client in excess $500,000.
