Over the years, Fred has had trial experience in virtually every area of the law, including complex commercial transactions, civil disputes, cases involving serious injuries, and significant criminal matters. Fred’s clients range from banks to manufacturers to construction firms to everyday folks. He has also acted as an arbitrator to settle disputes for other lawyers.

In 1974, Fred graduated from the University of North Dakota with a B.A. in business. In 1977, Fred received his J.D. from the University of North Dakota School of Law. Fred began his law practice in Wahpeton with the firm of Johnson, Milloy, Johnson, Stokes and Robinson. Four years later, Fred partnered with Richard Smith and founded the present Smith, Strege & Fredericksen firm.

Fred and his wife, Wanda, reside in Wahpeton. They have three daughters and two grandchildren.
