Law Firm Overview
Richard Isacoff has a commitment to his clients. He has worked for individuals, debtors, banks, creditors, and regulatory agencies, and now uses this knowledge to help his clients.
He is a summa cum laude graduate of Western New England College who obtained his B.A. in 1972. He continued his education at the college's School of Law and received his Juris Doctor (cum laude) in 1977. He has been licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts ever since. Richard started his career in banking in 1973, while attending law school, and remained in the banking industry until 1991 when he entered private law practice. During this time, he served as In House Counsel and as a Senior/Executive Vice President for several banks becoming President of Concord Savings Bank, FSB in 1988.
In 1980, Mr. Isacoff served as In House Counsel and a Senior Director for Aspen Systems Corporation of Rockville, MD, which was a groundbreaker in the field of computerization of litigation files. In 1982, he returned to banking and became Senior Vice President of Provident Bank of Maryland, where he also served as In House Counsel.
During 1986, after the collapse of the Maryland Savings and Loan Industry, Mr. Isacoff worked for the State of Maryland and with the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation to salvage failed S & Ls. His work succeeded in resurrecting the S & Ls he managed, and resulted in the determination of why the institutions failed. In 1988, at the request of investors, Mr. Isacoff formed and opened a new Federal Savings Bank with a major thrust of its business in the area of residential mortgages.
Moving back to New England in 1989 for family reasons, he joined Bank of New England-West and managed its Trust Department (assets exceeded $150 million) and the Loan Workout Department with a classified loan portfolio exceeding $75 million.
Since November of 1991 he has maintained a general practice of law dealing with such matters as bankruptcy, social security disability claims, real estate matters, personal injury, and wills, trusts, and estates. He has offices in Pittsfield and North Adams, Berkshire County, MA.
Mr. Isacoff is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, Massachusetts Bar Association, the Berkshire Bar Association, the Berkshire County Estate Planning Council, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He is also a Real Estate Title Agent for First American Title Insurance Company and a licensed Massachusetts Real Estate Broker (#138563). He is married and lives with his wife Bette in Cheshire, Massachusetts. Their daughter Kira is married and lives in Wales, UK.
