Mr. Robinson has been a practicing trial lawyer for more than 30 years, and specializes in complex business matters. He serves as an advisor to the Chapman Law School Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, as an arbitrator on the American Arbitration Association's Commercial Dispute Resolution Panel, and as a Judge Pro Tempore to the Orange County Superior Court. He formally served as a member of the California State Bars Judicial Evaluations Nominations Commission, as Chairman of the Orange County Bar Association Legislative Affairs Committee, as a member of Chapman Law School's Board of Visitors, as Chairman of the Irvine Valley College Foundation, and as Vice-President of Finance and Strategic Planning for the Boy Scouts of America, Orange County Council.
Mr. Robinson's representative defense victories include a unanimous defense jury verdict on behalf of an NYSE traded silicon chip manufacturer in a multi-million dollar products liability action; a defense jury verdict exonerating a law firm sued for alleged suppression of free speech rights; a defense judgment rejecting breach of contract, unfair competition and other tort claims against an association of emergency room physicians; a defense arbitration award, following a 43 day evidentiary hearing, dismissing claims of accounting manipulation and fraud against sellers of vertically-aligned manufacturing businesses; a defense judgment exonerating an entertainment industry client of fraud, conversion and unfair business practice charges; a judgment exonerating a nationwide manufacturer of freight trailers in a multi-party products liability action; the dismissal, via separate pre-trial settlements, of numerous misrepresentation and breach of warranty claims against sellers of various hotel, shopping center and apartment properties; and an arbitration award thwarting a dismissed executive's claim for wrongful discharge in violation of public policy.
Mr. Robinson's representative plaintiff victories include a jury verdict against a real estate attorney for fraud and malpractice; multiple judgments quieting title and expunging competing ownership claims to commercial, retail and residential subdivision property; a judgment validating millions of dollars worth of disputed preferred corporate stock; a judgment extinguishing disputed easement/right-of-way claims across beach front property; a judgment for fraud and breach of warranties against the seller of a fleet of commercial vehicles; a judgment for fraud against the seller of a franchised hotel property near Disneyland; multiple judgments and permanent injunctions preserving trade secret information belonging to several ECG clients; a settlement, reached mid-way through trial, awarding an ECG client 100% of a disputed multi-million dollar California lottery prize; a stipulated judgment, entered after the commencement of trial, reforming and enforcing an NYSE commercial lender's recorded security interest in a complex of commercial properties; a settlement, reached following a eight day evidentiary hearing, awarding exclusive title to multiple patents issued in the United States and China to ECG's client; and a settlement establishing a shipyard's right to a 35 year sublease extension.
Mr. Robinson also has extensive experience successfully representing clients in prosecuting and defending shareholder derivative actions, particularly those involving shareholder voting rights, stock buyouts, mergers, acquisitions, corporate control issues and the appointment of provisional corporate directors. |
