Lawyer Overview

Over a period of more than 25 years practicing in Japan and Hong Kong, John Roebuck has acquired extensive experience acting on behalf of both capital users and providers in asset-based and other financing transactions. During this time, he also has represented Japan-based and other multinational enterprises in a wide range of corporate transactions, including joint ventures and acquisitions.

A significant portion of John's financial transactions practice has focused on secured financing and leasing of vessels, aircraft, and other equipment. Recently, John has represented a syndicate of Japan-based financial institutions in a ¥10 billion loan facility to a major European shipping group. John's recent experience with corporate transactions includes representation of a major Japan-based multinational corporation in two joint ventures with a French multinational corporation for the production, marketing, and sale of industrial gases in the People's Republic of China.

John was acting general counsel of IBM Japan, Ltd. for most of 2003, and he was a visiting lecturer at Keio University Law School from April 2005 through March 2008.
