James J. Parks is a member of Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, Southfield Michigan. Mr. Parks is experienced in all facets of complex commercial litigation in State and Federal Courts handling cases throughout the United States. James originally trained in traditional labor law (National Labor Relations Board matters) and employment related issues and litigation. Over the past several years Mr. Parks has been involved with prosecuting and defending multi-million dollar claims against domestic, international and foreign entities. His experience inlcudes complex litigation in various areas including: intellectual property rights, international complex transactions and contracts, Uniform Commercial Code, warranties, bullet resistant armor litigation, theft of rare artifacts, probate matters, employment issues and traditional labor laws.
He obtained his B.A. from the University of Arizona and his J. D. from Pepperdine Law School in Malibu Beach California in 1981. Mr. Parks has served as the Michigan State Bar delegate for the 6th Circuit of Oakland and has chaired and served on many local Bar Committees including; chair of the Circuirt Court Committee, chair of the Lawyer Referral Committee, member of the 6th Circuit Task Force to promulgate standards for Professionalism and Civility for the Bar and the Bench. For several years Mr. Parks served as moderator for the television cable show "The Lawyers Roundtable" Mr. Parks has also been the chair of the Beverly Hills Variance Board and has served on the Board of Trustees for The Generation of Promise Program affiliated with Focus:hope of Detroit
