Lawyer Overview

Offering breadth and depth in a general practice, Jane Roach brings high ethical standards, deep ties to the community and twenty years experience in both civil and criminal litigation to the service of her clients.  Highlights of her practice include family law, particularly complex custody, divorce and pension/property settlement issues; personal injury, wrongful death and automobile/truck accident litigation; employment disputes, civil rights and pension benefit cases; and complex real estate, title, zoning and land use litigation.

Jane Roach served as a full time prosecutor for six years, first in Allentown, Leigh County, under D.A. (now Judge) William Platt, and then in Monroe County, where she was First Assistant District Attorney.  In that time she tried 140 criminal trials, including homicide and death penalty cases.  Her years as a prosecutor earned her a reputation for integrity, persistence and high competence.  She appeared frequently before the Superior Court and Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and served as instructor at the Allentown Police Academy and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.

In 1989 the Pennsylvania Attorney General appointed Jane Roach as Special Prosecutor to investigate a Wyoming County lawyer for the theft of client funds.  Her successful prosecution of the case led directly to the issuance of new law from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court imposing ethical and criminal liability on attorneys who defraud their clients.

Jane Roach entered private practice in 1989, building on her extensive ties to the community and involvement in a multitude of scholastic and volunteer organizations.

Jane Roach holds the 'AV' rating from Martindale-Hubbell and serves as a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee.  She is an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.  She is a frequent lecturer across the state on legal ethics and family law matters.  Mrs. Roach has served on the PBA's Task Force on Family Court Reform and presently serves on its Lawyer Certification and Specialization Board.

Mrs. Roach authors The Fine Print: a Newsletter of Pennsylvania Law,  published quarterly by the National Legal Research Group.

An attorney who is highly skilled at litigation --- and is not afraid to use those skills --- negotiates from a position of strength.  Jane Roach describes her focus as follows: 'Over the twenty years I have been working in the courts in a wide and varied range of civil and criminal cases, I have matured as a litigator.  While I never hesitate to advance a matter to trial where necessary, I am committed to the process of negotiation and dispute resolution.  My focus is to achieve the most favorable settlement for my client at the least possible expense.  I value the trust my clients place in me and offer in exchange my integrity, commitment and the very best of my abilities.'

The seat of Monroe County, Stroudsburg is strategically located at the junction of Interstate 80, U.S. 611 and State Route 209, two hours west of New York City and two hours north of Philadelphia.  Known as the 'Gateway to the Pocono Mountains' for its thriving tourist trade, the area is renowned for its scenic beauty, hunting and fishing opportunities, and numerous ski resorts. It also is home to light industry and a growing digital technology sector in business-friendly northeastern Pennsylvania.

Jane Roach has been an integral part of this community since 1986, when she moved here with her family for its high quality of life.  Her involvement with numerous commercial, civic and volunteer organizations has established wide and deep roots in the area.  She is particularly involved in issues concerning growth and the environment.  During this time, Jane Roach has been or is now instrumental in these organizations:
