Lawyer Overview

Katheryn has devoted most of her 22-year career to defending employers in litigation. She is admitted to practice in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. She has handled employment cases in trial and appellate courts throughout Pacific Northwest, including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Washington Supreme Court, the Washington Court of Appeals, Washington Superior Courts, the Alaska Supreme Court, and Alaska Superior Courts. She has also appeared pro hac vice in U.S. District Courts in Idaho and Utah.

Katheryn defends employers and managers against the full panoply of workplace claims, including claims for discrimination based on gender, race, national origin, pregnancy, and disability; as well as claims for wrongful termination and violations of federal and state employment laws such as the Equal Pay Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act. Katheryn devotes a substantial portion of her practice to providing counseling and training. She teams with human resource professionals and managers to help them navigate through the often challenging process of managing requests for disability accommodation while complying with applicable anti-discrimination and privacy laws. She also helps her clients avoid the risk of employment claims by preparing effective workplace policies and then counseling them through the process of carrying out reductions in force, separations, and terminations.
