Lawyer Overview

Jeffery Jonasen practices in Baker Hostetler’s business group, particularly in the areas of business acquisitions, joint ventures, securities offerings, financings and other business transactions. He has represented privately held and public companies, as well as not-for-profit entities, in connection with transactions such as acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, strategic alliances and technology licensing arrangements. He also advises clients with respect to corporate governance and public disclosure obligations. His experience in corporate representation includes small start-up companies in emerging technology fields, established medium-sized companies in a wide range of businesses, charities, community organizations and large FORTUNE 500 companies in domestic and international transactions.

Mr. Jonasen is also responsible for the firm’s local and state government relations practice in the Orlando office, representing the interests of clients in the legislative process and in regulatory matters. He has worked with clients to develop government relations strategies and he has appeared as an advocate before local government task forces, city councils, county commissions, state agencies and committees of the Florida Legislature. Mr. Jonasen’s community and political activities have enabled him to develop relationships with numerous elected and appointed government officials. He has also led political campaigns and political action committees, and has experience in the area of campaign finance and ethics laws and regulations.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Jonasen was a judicial law clerk to Justice Ben F. Overton of the Supreme Court of Florida.
