He also has represented other key parties in chapter 11 cases, including in the chapter 11 cases of LandSource Holding Company, Kimball Hill, Empire Land, Mirant Corporation, One Travel Holdings, L.D. Brinkman Holdings, Tri-Union Development Corporation, Physicians Resource Group, Jitney-Jungle Stores of America, El Paso Refinery, National Gypsum Company, Michigan General Corporation and Diamond Lumber, Pizza Inn, Exec Express II, Foster Mortgage Corporation, Priest North Limited Partnership, Interfirst Texas Finance, and American Healthcare. Greg has been involved in the restructurings of real estate loans and real estate companies, including developers, homebuilders, and timeshare owners, and has substantial experience with restructurings of joint ventures involving homebuilders. He also has substantial experience in bankruptcy-related litigation, including appellate matters, and most recently he has been representing Southern Company in its defense of a $2 billion avoidance action brought by a litigation trust established under the Mirant Corporation confirmed plan of reorganization. Other recent cases include precedent-setting litigation against the PBGC regarding termination of multiple pension plans, successful defense against efforts by a bankruptcy trustee to impose environmental liability on lenders who foreclosed on assets formerly owned by the estate, and the successful defense of an involuntary bankruptcy petition filed against Allied Riser Communications Corporation. Greg has been involved in numerous sales, via auction or otherwise, of single and multiple assets and businesses of chapter 11 debtors, both on behalf of the debtor/seller and the third-party acquiror.

Greg has been recognized by Chambers USA as one of "America's Leading Lawyers for Business." In the 2008 edition, he is referred to as a "prominent player on the national stage who is as good in the boardroom as he is in the courtroom" and was praised for always being "focused on reaching a resolution." In 2007, he was described as "outstanding" and received accolades for his "management of complex issues," "ability to build consensus," and "knowledge of the intricacies of the bankruptcy process." He is also recognized as a "Texas Super Lawyer."

Greg has lectured on a variety of topics, including, mass tort cases, valuations, retention and payment of professionals, arbitration, director and officer liability, securitization transactions, lender liability, and issues related to dot-com bankruptcies. He spoke in June 2008 at the annual bankruptcy and restructuring conference of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors on retention and payment of professionals, in April 2008 at the spring meeting of the American Bar Association on using public market data to value companies, in a May 2007 audio conference hosted by Beard Law Group and Business Publishers on handling complex chapter 11 issues, in January 2007 at a meeting of the Houston Turnaround Management Association on bankruptcy as a solution for asbestos and other mass tort liability, and in November 2006 at The University of Texas School of Law's annual bankruptcy conference on commercial arbitration issues.

He also writes on numerous subjects, and, most recently, coauthored with Charles Oellermann and Brian Gifford "Present Value Discounting of Claims in Bankruptcy," which was published in the February 2008 issue of the Norton Journal of Bankruptcy Law and Practice. He also coauthored with Debra Simpson "Retaining Key Employees in Bankruptcy," which appeared in the October 16, 2006 issue of the Texas Lawyer and the January/February 2007 issue of Executive Legal Adviser under the title "Code Limits Incentives for Top Talent." Finally, he coauthored with Dave Heiman "Innovative Approaches to Complex Restructurings: Creating a New Chapter for Kaiser Aluminum and USG," which appeared in the September 2006 issue of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel, and "When the Dust Settles," which appeared in the October 16, 2006 issue of The Deal.

Greg regularly records podcasts on recent bankruptcy developments for the Texas Lawyer. These podcasts are available on the Texas Lawyer Web site.
