Lawyer Overview
Dr. Koch retired from the Partnership in 1997 and continues to work as a Consultant on special matters for the Firm. He is widely recognized as an expert on EC competition law matters. As a legal adviser in the Commission's Legal Service, he was one of the Commission's principal advocates on competition law and intellectual property matters before the European Court of Justice over the last decade. He was also the Commission's senior legal adviser on matters arising under the European Coal and Steel Community Treaty. Immediately prior to leaving the Commission, he served as a legal service representative on the Commission team that drafted the EC Merger Regulation. In addition, he is an expert on German antitrust law and German merger notification procedures.
