Lawyer Overview
Brett Lovejoy's practice includes patent preparation and prosecution of technology involving computer science, electrical devices, inorganic and organic chemistry, biotechnology, nanotechnology, clean technology, semiconductor processing, and medical devices. His practice involves aspects of intellectual property client counseling including: patent portfolio strategy and management; patent invalidity, noninfringement, and freedom to operate opinions; and intellectual property due diligence (e.g., during financing events). In addition to patent prosecution, Brett handles design patent prosecution, trademark prosecution, copyright and licensing matters, as well as litigation matters involving high-technology.
Representative technology that Brett has handled includes software (e.g., wireless communication, search engines, digital image processing, and bioinformatics), diagnostic methods, semiconductor and microarray fabrication techniques, mechanical devices, chemistry, and photovoltaics. Prior to entering the legal profession, Brett obtained extensive technical experience through completion of a computational chemistry undergraduate degree, a Ph.D. program in molecular biology in which he developed a specialty in multiple-isomorphous replacement X-ray crystallography, as well as six years of research experience at Roche and GlaxoSmithKline.
