Lawyer Overview
Harry Johnson's practice and experience covers the full range of labor and employment law, including wage-hour complex litigation, traditional labor, other employment litigation, and client counseling and advice.
In the traditional labor field, Harry's experience includes the representation of clients in NLRB unfair labor practice and representation hearings, union representation campaigns, union corporate campaigns, labor arbitrations, executive contract arbitrations, assistance with collective bargaining, and Section 10(j) injunction hearings.
In the employment arena, his practice includes litigation of California and federal wage-hour cases, the majority of which are class or collective actions. In addition, Harry has wide-ranging experience in administrative DLSE cases, California and federal employment discrimination cases, as well as general civil employment litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
Harry is the practice coordinator of the roughly dozen, management-side attorneys comprising the Los Angeles Office's Labor & Employment Practice.
Harry has counseled clients in confronting or solving issues posed by California and federal labor and employment law. In the unionized context, these issues span an array of topics, including information requests, collective bargaining subjects, representation campaigns, alleged anti-union discrimination/coercion, and successorship issues. In the specific area of discrimination law, he has provided guidance to employers in issues such as disparate impact and treatment claims of alleged racial, sexual, age, national origin, disability, and sexual orientation discrimination; harassment claims and investigation; retaliation claims; and disability accommodation and leaves. Harry also has counseled clients in state and federal wage-hour law issues (including California's unique overtime and meal/rest break regime), arbitration policies, family and other protected leaves, handbook review, employee competition issues, plant closings, the labor aspects of mergers and acquisitions, layoffs, and employment contract drafting and claims.
