Virginia N. Hammerle Overview
Virginia Hammerle founded Hammerle Finley Law Firm in 1984. Now entering her fourth decade of legal practice, she has been Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1995 and is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. An aggressive litigator, Virginia is admitted to practice before all Texas Courts and in the following Federal courts: the Eastern District of Texas, the Northern District of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. She is certified as an ad litem and has testified before the Texas Senate Jurisprudence Committee on guardianship issues.
Virginia has tried more than 100 civil cases to completion. She has represented clients in hundreds of civil matters, including an $87 million dispute involving a mortgage purchase and servicing agreement, a class action from the plaintiff’s side, a work-out of a $11 million loan in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case, sequestrations involving 700 dairy cattle, multi-million dollar aircraft and collateral on a floor-plan loan, and numerous disputes regarding shareholder, partnership and non-competition matters.
Sample cases:
- Represented 750 class members in a class action lawsuit in Denton County involving a Municipal Utility District Tax in Corinth, Denton County, Texas. Class was certified and case settled.
- Joined as co-counsel on complex case in its sixth year of litigation, representing family members in a probate court litigation that spanned Denton and Tarrant counties, four courts, two appeals and a decade of litigation, involving millions of dollars and multiple oil & gas properties. Appeal was successful and case settled.
- Local Counsel and successfully defended summary judgment on $87 million case involving sale and warranties of sale of mortgage securities.
- Represented Resolution Trust Corporation in suit against entity for default on multi-million dollar loans secured by country club and guarantees; successfully pursued resolution through bankruptcy court in a Chapter 11 filing.
Virginia is a frequent speaker at professional and community seminars, an author of legal articles for newspapers and magazines and has had her own radio show.
