    Virginia G. Rice Overview

    Virginia G. Rice’s practice concentrates in the areas of elder law, mental health law, Social Security, probate administration, wills, trusts, estate planning, guardianship and conservatorship matters. From 1991 to 1993, Ms. Rice served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri, representing the Department of Mental Health. In addition, for the past fifteen years Ms. Rice has served as a court appointed attorney for both St. Louis City and St. Louis County, representing individuals in civil commitment, guardianship and conservatorship cases.

    Ms. Rice is a 1991 graduate from St. Louis University School of Law where she was a member of the law journal staff. She received her B.A. degree in psychology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1988.

    Ms. Rice is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois and is a member of the Woman Lawyers' Association and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She currently serves on the following committees formed by the Missouri Bar: Elder Law, Trust and Probate, and Mental and Developmental Disabilities. She was appointed Executive Liaison for the Elder Law Task Force formed by the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. She is the recipient of an Award of Merit from the Young Lawyers’ Division of BAMSL for her work on the Planning for the Elder Years Committee. She is currently on the Advisory Committee of the Probate Division of the Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri.

    Ms. Rice is one of the founding members and past president of the Missouri Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She recieved the "Women of Worth" award from the Older Woman's League. She is a past member of the Alexian Brothers Consumer Community Services Advisory Committee, a voluntary attorney for the Alzheimer’s Association.

    Ms. Rice has prepared and presented continuing legal education for lawyers on the subjects of mental health and elder law and is a contributor to the Missouri Bar Mental Health Law deskbook.
