Stacy J. Ford practices in our Commercial Litigation Department and is skilled in many fields of civil litigation, including contract and business disputes, probate and trust contests, real estate and title litigation, foreclosures, and slander and libel claims. She is also experienced at handling civil and commercial appeals at Florida's District and Supreme Court levels, including direct and interlocutory appeals, extraordinary writs, and petitions for jurisdiction.
Stacy received her law degree with high honors from the University of Florida, where she was a member of the Florida Law Review, graduated in the top 10% of her class, and was selected to be a member of the Order of the Coif. While at UF Law, she received seven Book Awards, including in Appellate Advocacy, Advanced Appellate Advocacy, and Florida Constitutional Law. Stacy also was chosen to compete on behalf of, and subsequently coach, UF's International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Team at its annual competition in Vienna, Austria.
Stacy was a Staff Attorney to Justice Charles T. Wells of the Supreme Court of Florida for two years following law school, as well as an intern to Justice Leander J. Shaw for a summer prior to graduation. After her experiences at the Florida Supreme Court, she practiced for three years in the litigation and appeals department of a well-respected Sarasota law firm, before moving to the Orlando area and joining Pohl & Short.
Before attending law school, Stacy taught English at the graduate level of a university in Russia and graduated magna cum laude from Kalamazoo College, receiving her Bachelor of Arts with a major in International and Area Studies and two minors in Political Science and Russian Studies.
Stacy grew up in Northern Indiana and Ft. Myers, Florida. She and her husband, Graham, who is originally from the U.K., together with his two sons, live in the Kissimmee/St. Cloud area and enjoy boating on the many lakes there.
