Richard Kerger 

Rick was one of the founders of the firm now known as Kerger & Hartman LLC. He began working as a lawyer in 1974 after being graduated with honors from The Ohio State University College of Law. He had spent four years in the United States Air Force before that, but his first job as a lawyer was clerking for United States District Judge Thomas D. Lambros. After two years he joined the Toledo law firm now known as Marshall & Melhorn. He was there for 20 years and served as a managing partner and the head of the firm's litigation group.

He is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the International Society of Barristers and The College of Master Advocates and Barristers. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the categories of Bet-the-Company Defense, Commercial Litigation, and both White Collar and Non-White Collar Criminal Defense.

He has represented Congressmen, judges, lawyers, clergymen, Fortune 500 companies, the Ohio Democratic Party and ordinary citizens. He has tried virtually every kind of case, from capital murder, to patents to antitrust and products liability. He is described in the international guide to lawyers, Chambers and Partners, as a trial lawyer who can breathe a human story into commercial litigation, a lawyer who never gets too emotional and a lawyer who read s the other side in negotiations well. He has been selected annually as one of Ohio's Super Lawyers since 2004. He is a regular lecturer and writer on trials and litigation related topics.
