Richard L. Robertson Overview

"We let our clients know that the key to success, financially and emotionally, is learning to operate as a divorced couple rather than a married couple. The rules as you once knew them no longer apply."

Rick Robertson was selected one of the Top 100 Attorneys in Dallas-Fort Worth by his fellow attorneys and is featured among the most outstanding family lawyers in the publication, Texas' Best Lawyers.

He has been named by D Magazine among "The Best Lawyers in Dallas and Fort Worth," from surveys of his peers. He is also listed in the current issue of The Best Lawyers In America and has been included among the best in his profession since 1997.

Mr. Robertson is the firm Vice President and Co-Managing Partner. He came to KoonsFuller after many years with the largest law firm in McKinney, Texas. Born on May 15, 1953, he was raised in Austin and attended the University of Texas (B.B.A., 1976) and the University of Texas School of Law (J.D., 1978).

He is a Fellow in the Texas Bar Foundation, a member of the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists and the College of the State Bar of Texas, a former Director of the Texas Young Lawyers Association and a member of the Collin County, Texas and American Bar Associations.

Mr. Robertson and his wife live in McKinney. They have two grown children. He has written articles and made presentations on family law issues to local, state and national bar associations. In 2007, he won the award for the best paper written for presentation to legal groups by the State Bar of Texas, for his effective paper on the use of electronic evidence. Technology is a special interest of his.

Mr. Robertson recently appeared on Good Morning Texas on WFAA-TV in Dallas to talk about the dangers of Facebook and other social media and their use in divorce cases. He has also offered commentary to Dallas-area radio stations on technological issues and the phenomenon of celebrity divorce.

Many of Mr. Robertson's clients are A-Level executives, high net-worth individuals, athletes, entertainers and their spouses, but he adheres strictly to his policy and that of the firm not to publicize their names and actions. He believes that in all cases, those people going through a domestic situation deserve privacy.
