Nina C. Aasen is a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, Class of 1990, and is admitted to the practice of law in New York State. Prior to attending law school, she graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego with a Bachelor of Science in Education and from Elmira College with a Master of Science in Education.

Since that time, Nina has gained extensive experience in the field of education, both as an educator and as an attorney. Nina worked as a public school teacher for fourteen years and later opened her private law practice in Ithaca, New York. During 2006 and 2007, Nina was employed as the Director of the Team Child Project at the Center for Children's Advocacy in Hartford, Connecticut. While in Connecticut, Nina worked extensively to assist inner city children, including those involved in the juvenile justice system, obtain an appropriate education. Currently, Nina's practice includes representation of students and their parents in obtaining a free and appropriate education. Nina also provides legal representation for students involved in school disciplinary proceedings. In addition to her focus on special education issues within the public school system, Nina represents children as an Attorney for the Child in New York State Family Court proceedings. Nina represents parents in Family Court and in appeals to the New York State Appellate Division, Third Department. Nina has also conducted educational trainings for parents, caseworkers, probation officers, law students and attorneys. She has supervised law students involved in a Child Advocacy Clinical Program at Cornell Law School.

Nina is passionate about providing representation to students with disabilities. In her practice of law in Family Court as an Attorney for the Child, as Team Child Director and as an educator, Nina has gained the skills and experience needed to be a strong advocate for these students. Nina resides with her children in Ithaca, New York. One of her children is grown and married with two children of her own, one is in college and the youngest is in high school.
