"I highly recommend Lucia Ramirez Levias to anyone who is involved in a family law case. I had a difficult, heartbreaking custody case and the support, professionalism and dedication I received from Lucia was unmatched. I truly felt she was there for me to answer my questions, support me and my concerns, educate me."
Lucia joined the firm in April, 2008, and comes with an extensive background in working with families and children around the Puget Sound. Family law is a natural fit for Lucia's professional and personal background. She was the youngest of five children in a family impacted by divorce. Her father was the first man in his home state to win full-custody of his children. Lucia knows firsthand the effect that divorce can have on the lives of children and parents. She also recognizes that life transitions can be positive when supported by the guidance of a caring professional.
Before going to law school, Lucia worked as a youth development director at the YMCA of Greater Seattle. There, she developed cutting edge programs to serve the needs of teenagers and their families in the community. Many of the children in these programs suffered from low self-esteem, negative body image, and some came from violent or abusive homes. Lucia worked with both the families and the children with compassion in an effort to inspire hope for their future and to challenge them to reach their highest potential.
Lucia aspires to reach her client's goals by listening, analyzing, and advocating. She enjoys complex analysis and problem solving. She has experience as a litigator in criminal court, immigration court, and family court. She is an analyst of complex family law issues including interstate and international custody, parental kidnapping and non-parental custody actions, among many other issues related to family law. Her analysis has been included in amicus briefings to the Washington Supreme Court and in briefs to the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th District. She is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and member of the family law section. She was recently recognized in Super Lawyer Magazine and Seattle Met Magazine as a “Rising Star” and “Outstanding Young Lawyer.” Only 2.5% of Washington attorneys are selected for this honor.
Lucia is an active volunteer in the Seattle area. She is the former Board Chair and founding member of Reel Grrls, an organization that empowers young women from diverse communities to realize their power, talent and influence through media production. She and her husband have served as volunteer facilitators for the Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS). She provides pro bono legal services to low-income immigrants.
When she's not working, you may run into Lucia at the Children's museum or the Zoo with her husband and two young children. In addition to raising her kids, she is also raising two teenage cats: Ginseng and Lola. Lucia travels regularly to her ancestral country, Peru.Read less
