Liz Porter Overview
"Whether it’s inside or outside the courtroom, KoonsFuller is the powerhouse firm every client needs."
When it comes to child custody issues, "in the best interest of the child" is more than legal jargon to Liz Porter. It describes her approach to family law. Because of her valuable work on parent-child relationships, she has earned recognition as a Texas Rising Star featured in Texas Monthly.
"I always introduce Liz as our child custody expert," says Ike Vanden Eykel, managing partner of Koons, Fuller, Vanden Eykel & Robertson. "She is a powerhouse when it comes to a wide range of family law matters, but her success when it comes to resolving parent-child issues, both in and out of the courtroom, is where she makes her mark."
Ms. Porter has handled numerous contested and non-contested divorces, complex property divisions, high-conflict custody disputes, child support enforcement actions, modifications of previous orders and paternity issues. She also has experience with prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.
Her clients include executives and entrepreneurs, business owners, doctors, lawyers, and educators, as well as a host of successful stay-at-home spouses.
"Family law issues are highly emotional," she says. "It is our job to keep our clients thoroughly informed and provide them with realistic expectations about the range of possible results. The decisions made today, whether personal or financial, can and likely will have a significant and lasting impact on their future."
Ms. Porter is a member of the family law sections of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association. She is also a member of the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists and Dallas Young Lawyers Association and has been elected to the Annette Stewart American Inn of Court. She has been recognized as a Texas Rising Star for 2008 and 2009 and has written and spoken to various organizations relating to current family law issues.
Ms. Porter earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Journalism from Texas A&M University in 1993. She earned her J.D. in 2001 from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in Fort Worth and is board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specializations.
She currently resides in Dallas, Texas with her husband and three children.
