Lauren F. Durso Overview

Lauren F. Durso is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She has now been working in family law for a decade. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in History and English from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. After returning to Houston, Lauren received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center.

As a law student, Lauren served as the Associate Chief Justice and then Chief Justice of the student Honor Court. Pursuing her interest in family law, Lauren completed a judicial internship in the 311th Family District Court. During her law school career, she also began working at Short & Jenkins as a law clerk. Several months later, Lauren took a position with the firm working full-time as a legal assistant in order to gain more practical experience in the field of family law. After working full-time and attending law school full-time, she was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2002.

Lauren has co-authored multiple continuing legal education articles for the State Bar of Texas. She is also a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Bar Association, the Texas Young Lawyers’ Association, the College of the State Bar of Texas, Texas Association of Family Law Specialists, Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists and the Burta Rhoads Raborn Inns of Court. She is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Although she is a strong advocate for her clients, Lauren believes in the benefits of alternative dispute resolution methods. She has completed her mediation training through the A.A. White Dispute Resolution Center and has successfully mediated many cases. Lauren has also completed the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Arbitration training. She is also trained in Collaborative Law and is a member of several organizations for Collaborative lawyers and professionals. She is currently on the board of directors for the Collaborative Law Section of the Houston Bar Association. She has also recently been selected as Rising Star in Family Law multiple times by Texas Monthly Magazine.

A resident of Memorial, Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband and her young daughters.
