Katie E. Shepherd Overview

Kathryn ("Katie") E. Shepherd received a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Special Honors in History from the University of Texas at Austin and received a Juris Doctor Degree from St. John's University School of Law in New York. She is licensed by the Appellate Division of New York. During law school, Ms. Shepherd was the founder and president of Amnesty International and was a student attorney in the Immigration and Refugee Rights Clinic at St. John's University School of Law. While in New York, she interned at the Executive Office of Immigration Review at the U.S. Department of Justice. Before joining Coane and Associates, she gained valuable experience in a large immigration firm in San Antonio and volunteered with ProBAR, assisting asylum-seekers in detention on the border with Mexico. Ms. Shepherd is particularly passionate about asylum law, and has worked on numerous winning asylum cases. She spends her free time enjoying the outdoors, whether on foot or bike, going to concerts, and spending time with family and friends.
