Harold L. Watkins Overview
Harold L. Watkins is the managing member of Aspey, Watkins & Diesel, P.L.L.C. Mr. Watkins is a member of the Arizona and California bars having been admitted to the bar in the State of Arizona in 1973. Additionally, Mr. Watkins is admitted to all Federal Courts in the District of Arizona, as well as the District of Colorado. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. He served until 2006 as one (1) of eleven (11) commissioners on the Arizona Commission on Judicial Conduct. That constitutionally mandated commission is charged with investigating and acting upon complaints of judicial misconduct or disability against judges at all levels from the Justice of the Peace to the Arizona Supreme Court. Mr. Watkins has previously served as a member of the Arizona State Bar Disciplinary Commission from 1982 to 1987 and as one (1) of five (5) Trustees of the Arizona State Bar Client Security Funds.
Mr. Watkins had been a lecturer in the area of attorney, judge and court personnel ethics. He is recognized by Martindale-Hubbell with its highest rating of AV. His practice is in the area of complex civil and commercial litigation. He has been named as counsel in several class action matters of regional and statewide significance. Mr. Watkins has also been involved in the prosecution of numerous matters arising from operation of cities and towns throughout the State of Arizona. He served as an appointed member to the first City Council after the 1998 incorporation of the City of Sedona and helped guide the City to its first elected council.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Watkins was a Deputy County Attorney in Coconino County and served in the capacity as the Chief Civil Deputy where he represented a vast array of government organizations and agencies in matters including everything from zoning disputes to bonding issues. His wide range of experience has lead to him being selected as special counsel for various governmental agencies the thirty-five (35) plus years of his practice.
