David G. Tekell Overview

For 25 years, David Tekell has been representing clients on both sides of the civil docket. He has extensive experience in defending and prosecuting personal injury claims where insurance is involved and pursuing and defending claims against insurance companies. Mr. Tekell actively represents clients in a variety of business disputes, including construction, employment and fiduciary responsibility claims, both as plaintiff and defendant.

In 2007, David Tekell was selected by James Publishing Company to take over writing and editing the Annual Supplements to the Texas DTPA Forms and Practice Guide after the retirement of its primary authors, David Bragg and Michael Curry. Mr. Tekell also teaches a three-hour course in Consumer Protection Law at Baylor University School of Law.

David Tekell is often called upon to act as local counsel for parties appearing in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, Waco Division. He has extensive federal court experience dating back to his service as a full-time intern to United States District Judge Walter S. Smith, Jr. in 1986. His wife, Angela, served as Judge Smith's briefing attorney from 1989 to 1991. David Tekell has appeared in federal courts from California to New Jersey, and maintains an active docket in three of the four federal districts in Texas.
