Ashley Bowline Russell developed her passion for family law as a student at Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law. During law school, Ms. Russell served as president of the Family Law Association, acted as the SMU student liaison for the Family Law Section of the Dallas Bar Association, and participated in the W. W. W. Caruth Jr. Child Advocacy Clinic, where she served as guardian ad litem and attorney ad litem in cases involving children in CPS custody.

After graduating from law school, Ms. Russell joined O'Neil Attorneys (formerly the May Firm), where she has remained ever since. In 2007, Ms. Russell became a member of the Annette Stewart Inn of Court, an organization devoted to ethics and professionalism in the practice of family law. She is also a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas and co-authors many articles with her mentor, Michelle May O'Neil.

Experienced handling family law issues ranging from child custody to complex property division, Ms. Russell focuses her practice exclusively on family law. After joining O'Neil Attorneys, Ms. Russell also discovered her interest in appeals involving family law matters, providing her with a unique and valuable perspective in approaching her cases. While not possible in every situation, as a skilled negotiator, Ms. Russell works with her clients to identify settlement options and secure agreements that can avoiding the necessity of a trial all together. Clients often praise Ms. Russell for the personal attention, compassion, and understanding that she brings during this extremely difficult time in their lives. Other attorneys appreciate Ms. Russell's knowledge of the law and creativity in both legal arguments and problem solving.

Prior to law school, Ms. Russell graduated magna cum laude from the University of Oklahoma were, in 2002, she received her Bachelor of Arts in both English and Psychology. She is a member of the highly regarded Phi Beta Kappa honors fraternity, as well as Phi Beta Phi sorority. Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ms. Russell lives in Dallas with her husband.
