The Law Office of Stephen Johnson Law Firm Overview

Before I started my own law practice, I worked for a major insurance company. As an attorney for the insurance company, I handled cases involving motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall accidents, 18 wheeler accidents - just about every imaginable kind of accident case.

While working as an insurance company lawyer, I noticed that the insurance adjusters really focused on people who were trying to handle their own accident claims, people who had not hired a lawyer to represent them. I saw the tactics and strategies that the adjusters used to try to pressure injured people into accepting lower settlements than they truly deserve. Sadly, the tactics and strategies the adjusters used were usually very effective.

You see, most insurance companies are multi-billion dollar conglomerates that seem to have almost unlimited resources to use in preparing and training their adjusters to deal with accident victims. I should know - training adjusters was part of my job as an insurance company attorney. The adjusters are also backed up by insurance company doctors, nurses, lawyers, accountants, all sorts of resources that are designed for one thing: to drive down the settlement amounts that the insurance companies pay to injured people.

That's why it's helpful to have legal representation after you've been in accident - an experienced attorney can level the playing field. I've been practicing law in Texas since 1991, and as a former insurance company lawyer, I've seen, from the inside, how adjusters handle injury cases, what they look for, and what gets their attention. I now use the experience and the knowledge that I gained while working for the insurance company to help accident victims.
